About
Compare countries visually.
Compare Countries is an interactive map for exploring how countries compare across land area, population, economic output, energy, natural resources, emissions, health, and development metrics.
What the site does
The site turns country-level statistics into visual comparisons. Add one or more countries to Group A and Group B, then switch metrics to see how the comparison changes.
Additive metrics such as population, GDP, emissions, and production totals can be shown as cartograms or grouped bar comparisons. Rate metrics such as GDP per capita, life expectancy, and percentages use color gradients instead of totals, because adding rates together would be misleading.
What the site is for
The goal is fast visual discovery: facts that are easier to understand when seen on a map than in a table. It is intended for general education, exploration, and comparison, not for legal, investment, diplomatic, or professional decision-making.
Data and boundaries
Country boundaries are used for visualization. Statistical values come from third-party public datasets and retain their source and reference year. Some metrics have missing values or country-specific reporting gaps.
See the Data Sources and Methodology pages for details.
